Mister Rogers plays peek-a-boo with construction paper. Meghan and Mary Sweenie visit. Mister Rogers asks his friends to try dancing to the music. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Cousin Mary Owl visits and wants to meet the king. Handyman Negri arrives looking for someone who writes fast. King Friday decrees that babies get too much attention and states that babies should only get one hour of attention a day. He finally changes his mind and decides to halt the decree. Back at the house, Mister Rogers watches a film about how people make construction paper. He concludes by singing I’m Proud of You.
Mister Rogers shows popsicle-stick crafts made by children. Mister Rogers and Bob Trow make creations with clay and popsicle sticks. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Robert Troll and Daniel get three sticks from the Trolley, which they pretend are drumsticks before using with a handkerchief to make a doll. Lady Elaine learns that doctors don’t poke at children with sticks. Lady Elaine pretends she is the doctor and gives Robert Troll a checkup. Back at the house, Mister Rogers explains that sticks do not move themselves — they require people to move them. Using a television set that Bob Trow has made from clay and sticks, they watch a short, animated film about popsicle sticks. After the film, Mister Rogers talks about different ways of talking and Bob Trow sings Troll Talk. Mister Rogers concludes for the day by singing It’s You I Like.
Mister Rogers arrives with a variety of stringed instruments including a violin, viola, cello, and bass violin. He demonstrates the different sounds that they make. Taking a few of the instruments to Negri’s Music Shop, Mister Rogers watches as Joe Negri and Johnny Costa join a group of musicians rehearsing Days of the Week. The musicians play Ornithorhynchus Anatinus. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Handyman Negri and Elsie Jean Platypus sing baby Ana to asleep. Queen Sara arrives at the Platypus mound and expresses her concern for King Friday who she feels does not have enough to do. Mr. McFeely arrives with a bass fiddle kit for King Friday which Handyman Negri quickly assembles. King Friday is frustrated when he cannot make beautiful music. At Handyman Negri’s suggestion, King Friday considers taking music lessons. Back at the house, Mr. McFeely stops by to pick up the remaining instruments to be returned to Negri’s Music Shop.
Mister Rogers shows how music is written and demonstrates how it sounds on the piano. Mr. McFeely delivers a baby bed. Mister Rogers talks about how he used the bed first and then his sister used it when he grew too big for it. After singing Please Don’t Think It’s Funny, he goes to the kitchen where he uses a puzzle to lead into Make-Believe. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, King Friday has had one music lesson but is still struggling to play the bass fiddle. Mr. McFeely is sent off to find a machine that will play the fiddle. The King and company pluck the strings of the fiddle before Mr. McFeely returns with “The Machine that Plays the Bass.” With the machine installed, everyone finds that the music sounds perfect, but it is not nearly as fun as when they were playing the instrument themselves. Back at the house, Mister Rogers puts the pieces back in the Neighborhood of Make-Believe puzzle and imagines a similar puzzle that puts itself together. After writing out the sheet music for Tree Tree Tree, he plays and sings the song. Mister Rogers shares a new song he has written — The Weekend Song.
Mister Rogers arrives with a puzzle in the shape of a ball that Robert Trow has lent him. After Mister Rogers dismantles the ball and counts the parts, he reassembles it. Mister Rogers then visits Robert Trow and plays counting games with him using flash cards. At Bob Trow’s shop, Bob and Mr. Rogers play rhyming games with number flash cards. Mister Rogers names words that rhyme with the numbers. Mister Rogers returns home and plays more of the rhyming game. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Bob Dog finds Lady Elaine’s boomerang and takes it to Cornflake S. Pecially. Lady Elaine becomes angry that Bob Dog will not return the boomerang when she rudely asks for it. Cornflake persuades Lady Elaine to ask Bob Dog politely. At the boomerang contest, Robert Troll, Chef Brockett, Barbara Boomerang, and Donkey Hodie practice throwing the boomerang. Lady Elaine’s boomerang fast throw wins her first place. Barbara Boomerang crowns herself the Contest Queen. Lady Elaine becomes angry that she is not queen, but is content with being first.
