Mister Rogers brings a carpenter’s measuring rule. He unfolds it until it is seventy-two inches long. Mister Rogers is six feet tall, too. He bends the ruler into different shapes. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Robert Troll is measuring wedding gifts. Lady Aberlin is having trouble finding room for all the presents. Mr. McFeely delivers more gifts. Robert Troll bends his ruler into an “S” and shows it to Sara Saturday. Then he bends it into an outline of a house to use for all the presents that won’t fit into the castle. Back with Mister Rogers, Mr. McFeely stops by on his way to the Neighborhood of Make-Believe with fancy wrapped packages for King Friday and Sara Saturday.
Mister Rogers has a briefcase filled with mittens and gloves of various sizes and purposes. He washes his hands in the bathroom before he tries on any of the gloves. Watching the water drain from the basin, he comments that only water and bubbles go down bathroom drains. Officer Clemmons stops by to pick up the gloves he has lent to Mister Rogers.In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Handyman Negri and Lady Elaine are measuring the castle for a wedding gift they are planning. Lady Elaine says it will be ready in two days. King Friday tells Officer Clemmons that the police should issue wedding invitations to everyone in the world. He has made two rules: a bath and purple gloves are mandatory for each guest. Henrietta offers to make gloves for X. Back with Mister Rogers: as he has no purple gloves, Mister Rogers tells Officer Clemmons he will wear make-believe purple gloves for a make-believe wedding.
Mister Rogers says he has a cold today. He talks about how he feels. Lady Aberlin delivers an invitation to a variety show in the Neighborhood of Make-Believe being given as a wedding present. Mister Rogers finds Honey the chimpanzee in his garden. Her keeper from the Westwood Children’s Zoo comes to take her to the variety show. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Lady Elaine is busy working on the wedding present she is making. Henrietta Pussycat has stage fright. Johnny Costa, Officer Clemmons, Lynda Martha, and Robert Troll all perform. Honey the chimp has a cold so she does no tricks. “The Purple Glove Ballet” is performed. Henrietta delivers a message of congratulations to the king and Sara Saturday.
Mister Rogers builds a structure out of blocks while listening to classical music. Picture-Picture shows a film of a house being built. Lady Elaine Fairchilde and Handyman Negri follow an ancient formula to expand the size of the castle. King Friday XIII and Sara Saturday enjoy the gift.
Today is the day King Friday is going to marry Sara Saturday. Mr. Rogers leaves his shoes on in honor of this day. He has figurines of the king and Sara Saturday for the top of the cake. Miss Emilie arrives wearing purple gloves. She reads a poem about the wedding. Chef Brockett picks up the figurines and puts them on the wedding cake. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, King Friday wants to be married in the garden. Lady Aberlin tells him that everyone thought he would want to get married in the “W” room. The king tells her to move the decorations from the “W” room to the garden. The garden is hastily prepared for the wedding. Mr. Anybody comes to be the minister, but has trouble finding the castle because of the recent transformation. First Sara Saturday is crowned queen, then she and King Friday are married.
