In the Television home, Katie Lewin tells Rogers how puzzles are made. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Handyman Negri and Daniel organize their own play retitled as “Benjamin Franklin and the Three Bears” at the request of X.
Mister Rogers tries on some Benjamin Franklin wigs and glasses and shows some pictures of Franklin. He reads aloud about Franklin as a boy. He shows a candleframe like the one Franklin may have used as a boy. Mrs. Rubin shows some wigs made by children. Three children visit with wigs they have made. In the NOM, Corney has made three rocking chairs for the Three Bears play they are planning. Henrietta is angry because X wants to give Goldilocks’ part in the play to Benjamin Franklin, whom he will play. Henrietta wants to play Goldilocks in a gold wig. X agrees as long as a part is provided for Ben Franklin. The name of the play will be “Goldilocks, Benjamin Franklin, and the Three Bears.”
Mister Rogers makes a butter, peanut butter, and jelly sandwich. Scientist Alder makes toast and does an experiment showing how heat changes things. X the Owl decides he wants to be a printer like Benjamin Franklin. King Friday wants a part in their play and the title is expanded to “King Friday, Goldilocks, Benjamin Franklin and the three bears”.
Mister Rogers shows the audience how to make a sock puppet. The Neighborhood of Make-Believe stages their play “King Friday, Goldilocks, Benjamin Franklin and the three bears”.
