Mister Rogers visits Negri’s Music Shop to hear three students practice playing the guitar. Mister Rogers talks to them about learning to play music. Helena gets a phone call and must go home to take care of her son, Matthew. Mister Rogers stays to work at the music store. Mister Rogers talks about dealing with problems in different ways: playing, working, talking, etc.In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Handyman Negri is teaching Prince Tuesday how to play the guitar. King Friday is unable to play along with them because he must go to work. Tuesday is disappointed. Queen Sara must also work. Princess Zelda needs a costume, so she, the prince, and Handyman go to the “C” Room. It is full of items whose names begin with the letter C. They examine many costumes. Handyman and Zelda try on elephant heads. The prince wont play because he is mad about his parents working. Zelda sings “Nobody Likes It” for him.
Mister Rogers shows some toy kitchen appliances and talks about cooking meals and responsibility for doing housework. Mr. McFeely delivers a bag of peanuts and Mister Rogers points out that every peanut is different. Mr. McFeely shows how to make a McFeely family favorite snack with dry milk, apple butter, and peanut butter. They taste some spread on a rice cake and agree that it is very good. Mister Rogers shows a video of people playing peek-a-boo, and says that even when you can’t see people they are still there. He looks through a photo album of parents taking care of children.In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Prince Tuesday is talking to King Friday about work and responsibility. Lady Aberlin encourages the prince to talk about problems, like parents who go to work. Tuesday says that he feels sad. Lady Aberlin sings “You Are Special” to him. Princess Zelda shows up with a giant peanut. She and Lady Aberlin play catch with it, but Tuesday doesn’t feel like playing. Zelda says she understands and shows Tuesday a trick, making the peanut disappear. All three visit Daniel who is upset by the disappearing peanut. The prince wonders if his parents can be made to reappear by magic. Zelda says people can’t be brought back by magic, and Lady Aberlin adds that people come back because they want to.
Mister Rogers enters wearing a peanut lei. He explains that all peanuts are different, and shows a toy that makes different patterns and shapes with colored oil and water. He begins to read a poem, “How Do I Love Thee?” but stops when Mr. McFeely delivers a video about how people make peanut butter. He and Mister Rogers watch the video and Mister Rogers explains that people have to go to work in order to make things. Mister Rogers says a good way to learn is to look carefully, and he sings “I’m Taking Care of You.” Mr. McFeely delivers a flower lei.In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Queen Sara speaks with Lady Aberlin about work and Prince Tuesday’s feelings of fretfulness. Lady Aberlin talks with Cornflake S. Pecially about Daphne, the baby of his employee, Mrs. Dingleborder. She had to bring her baby to work with her because she couldn’t find a sitter. Princess Zelda stops by with peanuts. Lady Aberlin agrees to take care of Daphne. Henrietta Pussycat suggests making a daycare center at the factory, and Corney agrees.
Mister Rogers reads a picture book about toilet training, shows the toilet in his bathroom, and says that people can never go down the drain. He goes to Negri’s Music Shop. Helena talks about her son Matthew and her reasons for working. Natasha, the oboist, is also a mother and talks about learning to play the oboe, being a working mother, and expressing her feelings through her playing. Mister Rogers says that children are unique, more than their parents, and much more than any one thing about themselves. He talks about being truthful with people you love. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Prince Tuesday talks to Princess Zelda who is wearing a cat costume for fun. He is still angry and says that he thinks he will get sick so his parents will stay home from work. Zelda sings “You’re Much More Than Your Anger” to him. Lady Aberlin brings three small toilets for the new caring center, and Henrietta invites Prince Tuesday to help. He doesn’t feel like helping, but says he will think about it. Princess Zelda suggests they go to the “B” room to look for building blocks for the center and he agrees. Lady Elaine and Lady Aberlin talk about Prince Tuesday, and Lady Elaine says she will talk to him.
Mister Rogers talks about daycare, playing, and sharing and says that parents will come back for children at the end of the day. Marilyn Barnett shows Mister Rogers some exercises. Bruce Franco shows some balloon sculptures he has made and makes a balloon flamingo. He gives Mister Rogers a balloon trolley he made. Mister Rogers talks about some of the problems families experience when parents have to go away to work. He says that it takes time for children to understand feelings and talk about them, and when parents leave to go to work they will come back. He says it is important to talk about things with people you love.In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, King Friday talks with Mr. Aber about exercise, and Queen Sara talks about Prince Tuesday and her having to work. Aber and Tuesday also talk. Lady Aberlin is delivering balloons to the caring center and asks Prince Tuesday to help. At the factory, the king, queen, and prince talk together about their family and work.
