Mister Rogers shows what he has in his briefcase and how a suitcase is packed. He is lending a suitcase to the McFeelys for their trip. Mr. McFeely is taking a microscope to his granddaughter so they can study botany together. Mister Rogers offers to help with deliveries during Mr. McFeely’s absence. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Robert Troll is happy because Queen Sara is better. Dr. Bill plans to give her a microscope to use while she recuperates. Robert Troll collects some leaves and flowers for her to look at. Back with Mister Rogers, he invites Betty Niedringhaus from the museum to show how she makes wax models of plants. She will come Friday. Then he reviews the days of the week.
Mister Rogers has some bus, airplane, train, and streetcar tickets. He matches the tickets with models of those vehicles. He explains that parents are very busy when preparing for a trip. He visits the McFeelys to say goodbye before their trip, and helps Mr. McFeely pack. He takes two of their plants to care for. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Donkey Hodie and Harriett Elizabeth Cow are bagging potatoes in Someplace Else. Lady Aberlin is collecting leaves for Queen Sara to look at under her microscope. Harriett Elizabeth gives her a leaf from her favorite plant. After Lady Aberlin gives the leaves to the queen, the queen identifies Harriett. Elizabeth’s plant from a book. King Friday wants the plant. Lady Aberlin becomes angry with him
Mister Rogers pours water from a watering can with a beaker. Bob Trow visits and tells Mister Rogers about taking the McFeelys to the bus. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, King Friday is waiting for Harriett Elizabeth’s plant. She sends him a message that she will not give the plant to him. He orders her to the castle with her plant. Queen Sara explains to him the plant belongs to someone else. The king and queen argue. Mister Rogers goes to Bob Trow’s Workshop where he meets Marianne Wion, who makes toys from wood. They discuss her leaving her child when she works.
This classic early episode helps children understand some important things about love and anger. In Make-Believe Lady Aberlin is confused because she saw the King and Queen arguing and now they’re loving with each other.When she asks Queen Sara, “What is love?” she learns that love is hard to understand, but even loving people get angry with each other sometimes.That doesn’t make the love go away.
Mister Rogers cuts open the fruit of a Jerusalem cherry plant to show the seeds and talks about how new plants start. He waters Mrs. McFeely’s plants. He shows some photos of times he spent with the McFeelys. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, King Friday has forgotten that Mr. McFeely is away. Henrietta and Miss Paulificate fantasize about what the McFeelys are doing. Purple Panda writes them a letter and draws a picture for them. Betty Niedringhaus shows Mister Rogers how she makes wax plants.
