Mister Rogers is wearing a bandaid and explains that all of his hand is still there. He plays peek-a-boo with a cushion and calls Mr. McFeely to see if he knows how bandages are made. He sings about waiting. Mr. McFeely tells Mister Rogers about a surprise that can be heard at Negri’s Music Shop. Mister Rogers goes and meets Ellis Marsalis and three of his sons, Brandford, Delfeayo, and Jason, who perform an instrumental of “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” and a boogie woogie tune. They talk about being a musical family. Carl McVicker and Joe Negri join them for an instrumental version of “Sometimes Isn’t Always.” Mister Rogers talks about music and playing different kinds of instruments. He says making music together can give people a good feeling. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Lady Aberlin talks with Trolley about things she does while she is waiting. She and King Friday talk about art, painting, and music. He plays his bass violin while she paints. The king wonders how one person can be many things. Miss Paulificate brings the telephone to Lady Aberlin. Dr. Bill Platypus asks for her help. Ana has hurt her paw and doesn’t want to wear a bandage. Lady Aberlin gives Ana a picture and Dr. Bill plays the bagpipes. While they are listening, Lady Aberlin plays with the bandage, putting it on and taking it off to the music. They talk about how one person can be many different things.
Mister Rogers enters carrying a doll. He pretends that it is dancing and playing hide-and-seek and feeling ill. He plays a song for it on the piano and sings “I’m Taking Care of You.” Mr. McFeely arrives with a video about people making bandages. He demonstrates making adhesive bandages first, then they watch the video. Mister Rogers puts a bandaid on the ailing rag doll and talks about the benefits of pretending with dolls. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Prince Tuesday plays with a rag doll. He is unhappy because he has no friend to play with. The King tells him to pretend that Tommy, the rag doll, is alive. When he does, the rag doll turns into a live human being, who dances while the King plays his bass violin. Tommy wears a bandage on his hand and lifts it to make sure he is still there. Tommy and Tuesday visit Ana Platypus and talk about bandaids. At the castle, when Lady Elaine says she doesn’t believe Tommy has come alive, he turns back into a rag doll. Mister Rogers explains that dolls only come alive in make-believe, but it is ok to pretend. He feeds the fish, and Mr. McFeely returns with a large music box and explains how it works.
Mister Rogers enters with a tape recorder. He sweeps the carpet and explains that the sweeper can’t suck people up. He plays a tape of wolves howling and says it sounds like singing. Mr. Aber brings Kent Weber to visit with two live wolves, Shaman and Little Dancing Bear. They discuss the habits and characteristics of wolves: weight, size, their shyness, and how they communicate. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Prince Tuesday tells Lady Aberlin that Tommy the doll came to life. Mr. Aber is wearing a wolf costume for Wolf Week in Westwood. He has a small wolf costume and is looking for a small good wolf. Tuesday is afraid to wear the costume, thinking he might become a wolf. Tommy comes back to life and dances with Chuck. Lady Aberlin and Chuck discuss who else might look good in the wolf costume. Henrietta, who is vacuuming, is frightened. Ana Platypus recognizes Chuck in the costume. Daniel Tiger tries on the costume and agrees to wear it. When they all go to the castle, the king says Tom and Tuesday have gone to wait in the “W” room. Mister Rogers uses a towel to pretend he is a wolf. His son Jim brings Alexander, Mister Rogers’ grandson, for a visit. They sit at the piano for a while, then go to see the trolley and play peek-a-boo. Mr. Rogers says it’s a good feeling to help someone else grow.
Mister Rogers reads a book written by Lani Droz, “What is a Father?” He uses a wolf puppet and shows pictures of his neighborhood friends, including Ella Jenkins. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Lady Elaine is scared that toy wolves will become real wolves. The children in the school talk about their musical fathers. Ella Jenkins performs songs for Mister Rogers and Chuck Aber.
Mister Rogers shows a picture of cellist Yo-Yo Ma, then goes to visit him. Mr. Ma is practicing and talks about how playing some music helps him feel better when he is away from his family. He talks about how he learns from his children and how he learned to enjoy music from his father. Jill and Nicholas Ma come in and Nicholas works the bow on Yo-Yo’s cello to play “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.” Mister Rogers talks with Nicholas about other activities he and his father do together, then Nicholas plays “Skaters’ Waltz” on the piano, while his father accompanies on the cello. Mister Rogers joins them the second time. Mister Rogers talks about caring for others and how good that makes people feel.In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, King Friday is walking his wooden birds, Mimus Polyglottos and Troglodytes Aedon. He and Lady Aberlin talk about the birds and how the King feels fatherly about them. Lady Aberlin shares her concern about Daniel’s lack of a musical father. She goes to speak with Elsie Jean Platypus and then X the Owl about Daniel’s wish for a father. X sees a wolf wandering around the neighborhood near Daniel’s clock. It turns out to be Mayor Maggie in a wolf costume for Wolf Week in Westwood. Daniel tells Lady Aberlin and Maggie that Mr. Aber will be his pretend father. Mayor Maggie offers to be his pretend Wolf-mother, and Lady Aberlin volunteers to be his Aunt. At the castle, Prince Tuesday has found Mimus. Daniel, Maggie, and Lady Aberlin arrive, as does Dr. Bill with his bagpipe and daughter, Ana. Chuck comes with his trombone to accompany the king and Dr. Bill, while the others sing “Then Your Heart is Full of Love.”
