Hats

Mister Rogers talks about three-cornered hats and sings “My Hat it Has Three Corners.” Mr. McFeely asks Mister Rogers to come along for a bus ride. They look out the bus window at different hats people are wearing. Back home, Mr. McFeely and Mister Rogers exchange hats and sing the Speedy Delivery song. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Mayor Maggie and Queen Sara try on three-cornered hats. King Friday does not immediately recognize the queen with her new hat on. Mayor Maggie gives King Friday a hat as well and he commands that everyone must wear a three-cornered “one.” Robert Troll has a box to deliver to Lady Elaine and meets Chuck Aber who is delivering three-cornered hats. Chuck and Robert give Henrietta and X hats “just for fun and fancy.” Lady Elaine’s delivery turns out to be an onion-shaped hat that is round and very different from everyone else’s three-cornered hats. She refuses to be like everyone else and chooses to wear her new hat because she likes it. King Friday has Robert Troll even put a three-cornered hat on Trolley. Robert puts off answering the king’s queries about what was in the box for Lady Elaine. Mister Rogers makes a hat out of construction paper, clothes pins, and paper plates. He sings “It’s You I Like” and says it’s not the things you wear that make you “you,” but it’s the person inside that counts the most.
